Privacy — Paulie Paulie
Paulie Paulie is a game published by JQIT Pty Ltd (ABN 30 609 039 732). This notice explains what the game collects and how we handle it. It is the product notice under our company Privacy Policy.
The short version
- You can play as a guest, with no account and no email required.
- We only ask for an email if you choose to sync across devices or make a purchase.
- We don't sell your information or show ads that profile you without consent.
- You can delete your account and data at any time, either in-game or via this page.
What we collect
- Guest play: an anonymous device identity, your chosen display name, and your game progress (character saves). No email, no real-world identity.
- Verified accounts: if you sign in to sync or buy, your email address (used as your account key and to send sign-in codes). If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile name from Google; we never receive your Google password.
- Gameplay data: character saves, leaderboard scores and race records, and any purchase entitlements on your account.
- Diagnostics: aggregate crash and error telemetry to keep the game stable (no message contents, no emails in reports).
- Standard request data: like any online game, our providers process technical data (such as IP address and device type) to deliver and protect the service.
Who processes it (our providers)
- InstantDB: realtime backend and sign-in. Accounts, saves, scores and entitlements are stored here. Hosted in the United States (see "Overseas").
- Cloudflare: content delivery, security, and the human-verification check shown when you first create a character.
- Google: sign-in with Google, if you choose it; and advertising (see "Ads & consent").
- Sentry: crash and diagnostics telemetry.
- Our payment provider: payment processing for web purchases, as merchant of record. In-game purchases on the web are not yet live; the provider is named here before any purchase is possible.
Ads & consent
Paulie Paulie does not show advertising today. We have applied to Google AdSense and intend to introduce advertising once approved, so this notice names Google as an advertising recipient in advance rather than after the fact.
When advertising is introduced, players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be asked to consent before any personalised ad, through a Google-certified consent tool; if you don't consent you will see non-personalised ads instead. Ads will never block play. On mobile we will use Google's UMP consent SDK, plus Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS. We do not show personalised advertising to anyone under 18.
How long we keep it & deletion
We keep your account and saves while your account is active, and we don't hold data "just in case". Anonymous guest data (no verified sign-in) is deleted automatically after 90 days of inactivity. Verified accounts are kept until you delete them; if we ever remove a long-inactive verified account, we'll email you first. Diagnostic and crash data is kept for no more than 90 days. You can delete everything at any time:
- In-game: Game Settings → Account → Delete Account (type DELETE to confirm).
- On the web: follow Delete your account.
Deletion is permanent and erases your profile, entitlements, saves, scores, race records, your account record, and any guest devices linked to it.
Children
Paulie Paulie is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. You must be 13 or older (or the higher digital-consent age where you live) to create a verified account.
We ask for your date of birth before you create an account. The screen appears before we ask for an email address, so that we are not collecting personal information from someone who turns out to be too young. We check the date against the minimum age that applies where you are connecting from: 13 in most places, and up to 16 across the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, where each country sets its own digital age of consent. If the date does not meet that minimum, we do not create an account and you cannot make a purchase. You can still play as a guest.
We do not keep your date of birth. It is used to work out a yes or no and is then discarded. What we store is the fact that a check was passed, when, and which minimum age applied. We do not store your birthday, and we do not use it for anything else.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact info@jqit.com.au and we will delete it. Where younger players nonetheless access the game as guests, we apply child-safe defaults: minimal data collection and no personalised advertising to minors. We follow the OAIC Children's Online Privacy Code as it comes into effect.
Your rights (Australian Privacy Principles)
You can ask us to access or correct your personal information (APP 12 and APP 13), send you a machine-readable copy of it, delete it, or withdraw consent. Email info@jqit.com.au. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland have the equivalent GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority); our lawful bases are performance of the game service you request and, for ads, your consent.
Overseas
Our backend provider InstantDB is hosted in the United States, and providers such as Cloudflare run global networks, so your account and gameplay data is processed outside Australia to run the game.
Paulie Paulie is made and run from Australia. We do not advertise or market it in the EEA or the UK, and nothing is sold there. You can still play from anywhere, and the minimum age that applies is the one for the country you connect from. If we begin selling or advertising in those regions, or the game arrives on an app store there, we will first appoint a GDPR Article 27 representative in the EU and a separate one in the UK, and put an approved transfer mechanism in place for data that goes to the United States.
